🌿 Understanding Anxiety: When Worry Becomes Too Much

We all feel anxious from time to time — before a big presentation, a job interview, or when a loved one is running late. But what happens when that anxiety doesn’t go away? When it starts to interfere with your daily life, your sleep, or your ability to concentrate?

At Rooted in Serenity Behavioral Health, we believe in helping you understand what you're experiencing — so you can find relief 💚

What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress or perceived danger. It can be helpful — keeping you alert and motivated — but for some, anxiety becomes chronic and overwhelming.

You may have heard of:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD): constant, excessive worry about everyday things

  • Panic Disorder: sudden, intense episodes of fear (panic attacks)

  • Social Anxiety: fear of being judged or embarrassed in social situations

  • Health Anxiety: excessive worry about physical symptoms or illness

Each type of anxiety has its own triggers, patterns, and impacts — but they all have one thing in common: they’re not just in your head, and they’re not your fault.

Common Signs of Anxiety

  • Racing thoughts that won’t turn off

  • Trouble sleeping or constant fatigue

  • Chest tightness, shortness of breath, or GI issues

  • Avoiding places, people, or situations

  • Feeling restless or easily startled

  • Irritability or difficulty concentrating

Many people with anxiety also struggle with low self-esteem, perfectionism, or people-pleasing tendencies. It can feel exhausting — like you're always one step away from everything falling apart.

Is Medication Right for Anxiety?

For some, therapy alone is enough. For others, anxiety has taken hold in the body and brain in a way that needs additional support. Medication can offer relief — not by numbing you, but by calming the storm so you can think clearly and feel like yourself again.

At Rooted in Serenity, we offer:

  • Thoughtful, personalized medication evaluations

  • Nonjudgmental space to explore your concerns

  • Ongoing support to fine-tune your treatment

  • Holistic, trauma-informed care for lasting wellness

🌱 You Deserve Peace

Anxiety can make you feel alone, misunderstood, or “too much.” But healing is possible — and it starts with being heard.
